Straighter teeth, a healthier bite

Orthodontic treatment goes beyond straightening teeth. Aligning the teeth and bite makes them easier to clean and helps prevent uneven wear and TMJ problems. Our orthodontists, Dr. Michael Grosso and Dr. Lindsay Grosso, focus on the precise alignment of your smile, and they work in the same office as our restorative and cosmetic team. That means treatment planning can consider both the alignment of your teeth and their restoration when you need both. Every plan is tailored to your needs, your age and your lifestyle.

The short answer

Orthodontics is the dental specialty that straightens teeth and corrects the bite, using traditional braces, Invisalign® clear aligners, retainers and appliances such as expanders. Aligning the teeth makes them easier to clean and helps prevent uneven wear and TMJ problems, with treatment available for children, teens and adults. Early evaluation in children can guide jaw growth and reduce crowding, while adults can choose discreet options such as clear aligners.

Orthodontics FAQ

At what age should my child first see an orthodontist?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic evaluation by age 7. An early visit lets the orthodontist check how the jaws and teeth are developing. It does not always mean treatment starts right away, but it can guide proper growth and reduce future treatment needs.
How long does orthodontic treatment take?
Treatment length varies with the type of correction your teeth and bite need. Mild spacing or crowding usually takes less time than a complex bite correction, and the appliance you choose also plays a part. Your orthodontist gives you an estimated timeline at your consultation.
Is Invisalign® as effective as braces?
Yes, for most mild to moderate cases, Invisalign® clear aligners work as well as braces. Complex bite and alignment problems may still benefit from traditional braces. Your orthodontist explains which approach suits your case after an evaluation.
Are braces painful?
Braces are generally comfortable, though you may feel mild soreness for a short time after adjustments. The soreness comes from the gentle pressure that moves your teeth. Soft foods can help while it settles.
Can adults get orthodontic treatment?
Yes, orthodontic treatment works at any age, and many of our orthodontic patients are adults. Modern options such as clear aligners make treatment discreet and comfortable. When worn or missing teeth also need restoring, alignment and restoration can be planned together in one office.
How often do I need to visit during treatment?
Regular progress visits keep your treatment on track. How often you come in depends on whether you wear braces or aligners and how your teeth are moving. Your orthodontist sets a visit schedule at the start of treatment.
What happens if I lose an aligner?
Contact us right away if you lose an aligner. We will advise whether to move to the next aligner in your series or replace the lost one. Keeping your aligners in their case whenever they are out of your mouth helps prevent losses.
Do I still need retainers after braces or Invisalign®?
Yes, retainers prevent teeth from shifting back after treatment. Custom retainers are made to fit your teeth once braces or aligners are complete. Your orthodontist explains how and when to wear them.
How much do orthodontics cost?
The cost of orthodontic treatment varies with the treatment type and the complexity of your case. You receive a clear estimate at your consultation, before treatment begins. Payment plans and financing through Cherry, CareCredit and Proceed Finance can spread the cost into monthly payments.
Does insurance cover orthodontics?
Some dental insurance plans include orthodontic benefits. We work with most major dental plans and can check your benefits before treatment begins. You then receive a written estimate that shows what your plan may cover.
