Same-Day CEREC Crowns

From scan to crown in our office.

Crowns designed and milled in our office for accuracy and convenience. Here is how a same-day crown comes together.

01

Scan

Intraoral scanner

An intraoral scanner captures a digital impression of the prepared tooth in minutes, with no putty trays.

02

Design

CAD software

Dr. Incampo designs the crown on screen, shaping it to fit your bite and match the neighboring teeth.

03

Mill

In-office milling

The design is sent to our in-office mill, which carves the crown from a solid block of ceramic.

04

Place

Same visit

The finished crown is checked, polished and bonded in place, so you leave with your final restoration.

Questions

Technology FAQs.

Answers about the tools we use, what they mean for your visit, and how they help plan your treatment.

Still have a question?

Yes. Digital X-rays use significantly less radiation than traditional film X-rays, and the images appear on screen within seconds. That means fewer retakes, a clearer view of decay and bone levels, and the ability to enlarge images and walk you through them at the chair. We only take X-rays when they are needed for diagnosis or planning.

In most cases the whole process happens in one visit of a couple of hours. The tooth is prepared, scanned with an intraoral scanner, and the crown is designed on screen and milled in our office from a solid ceramic block. It is then checked, adjusted and bonded in place, so you leave with your final crown and skip the temporary crown and second appointment.

A regular X-ray is flat, while a CBCT scan shows your jawbone in three dimensions. It lets us measure bone height and width, locate nerves and sinuses, and choose the safest implant size and position before treatment begins. The result is a more predictable procedure and an implant placed where it best supports the final tooth.

Same-day crowns are milled from solid blocks of high-strength ceramic and are designed for everyday chewing. For most teeth they perform comparably to lab-made ceramic crowns. For some situations, such as heavy grinding or certain back teeth, a different material may be recommended, and Dr. Incampo will explain why.

Intraoral scanners capture thousands of images and build a precise 3D model of your teeth. Digital impressions avoid the distortion that can happen when putty sets or is shipped to a lab, and any missed area can be rescanned on the spot rather than repeating the whole impression.

Lasers allow precise treatment of soft tissue such as gums, often with less bleeding and swelling than traditional instruments. Many patients need little or no anesthetic for minor laser procedures, though this depends on the treatment. We’ll explain what to expect before we begin.

An intraoral camera is a small, pen-sized camera that shows close-up images of your teeth on a screen beside the chair. You can see cracks, worn fillings or areas of concern for yourself, which makes it easier to understand your treatment options.

No. CBCT scans are used when three-dimensional detail is needed, most often for implant planning, complex extractions or evaluating the jaw joints. Routine checkups usually rely on standard digital X-rays.

Not necessarily. Digital tools can reduce the number of visits, avoid remakes and remove the need for temporary crowns. We’ll give you a written estimate before treatment begins, and financing is available.
